CROSS TRAIL NEWS - CLUB REPORTERS
Club reporters for the Cross Trail News should submit their club reports by email to crosstrailnews@shaw.ca. The report can be in the email itself or as an attachment. Please include your club name as the first part of the file name.
We accept most document formats – doc, docx (preferred), odt, pub, rtf, txt, wpd. Please do not export your text document to a pdf file (every line gets a carriage return when copied and pasted) and please do not send your report as an image (such as jpg or a scanned pdf) because we are unable to copy the text. Space permitting clear photos (300 dpi; jpg or png format preferred) may also be published (please include the photographer’s name). The subject line of your email should read: Club Name – Club News – Date. Include your club’s name in the name of any file you attach to your email.
The submission deadlines appear in each issue and are also on the SUBMISSIONS page on this website. If material arrives after the deadline its inclusion can’t be guaranteed. Early submissions are always appreciated as reports are edited as received.
Ideally your report should consist of three parts:
- Club News – The club news should be about 250-500 words in length and may include details of both past and upcoming club activities and events of interest to Island dancers. Please note that a “future” event may be a “past” event by the time your news is published so word your report accordingly. This is an opportunity to let others know that your club is a great place to come for a visit.
- Dances & Events – List details (date, time, place, theme, etc.) for club dances and events for the reporting period. This information is used for the Dance Dates pages and for the online calendar on the Region 1 website. See the table on the SUBMISSIONS page for submission deadlines and details.
- Sympathy & Condolences (if any) – List club members who have experienced a recent (in the past two to three months or so) death in their family. Please give the name of the deceased person, their age (if known), the date and place of death, and the relationship (e.g. husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc.) of the deceased to the club member. If an active club member or a former member has died please submit a short note with the same information.
